Working at Home – How Do You Stay Motivated, Is It the Right Choice for You?

Follow your dreams!

Achieving Your Goals Faster

Some people feel that when working at home it is difficult to stay motivated. I guess it would depend how much you want to work at home instead of commuting to work on cold wet days.  Also how much you want to be doing the work you have chosen to do. Whether you enjoy the peaceful surroundings at home, (assuming that is the case), or that the like the buzz of a busy office or work place. If the latter is your choice you may feel isolated at home.

Can you set yourself a schedule and stick to it? Do you enjoy a challenge you have set yourself?

Setting goals is also a great way to stay on target. If the goal is extremely important to you, something you are passionate about, it is easier to stay committed to your schedule. As well as your main goal if you break your work plan into weekly of daily segments, you will be able to see you are keeping to your schedule and are on target.

Seeing that you are making progress is a great reward and will spur you on to greater success. If you Love what you are doing it is much easier to stay motivated as you are enjoying most of the tasks involved, and although some may be a chore, all jobs have bits you would rather ovoid. If you make lists and strike a thick line through the tasks on completion, you will get some satisfaction on accomplishing uninviting tasks.

Make to-do lists the night before so that you know exactly what you have planned when you sit down at your laptop and you are less likely to get sidetracked by emails Facebook etc. Plan work slots. Know when you have other activities to incorporate into your day. After all, one of the joys of working at home is the convenience of being time flexible, especially around family commitments and other things you love to do.

Give yourself little rewards for unappealing tasks like a cup of coffee or a walk in the garden, an apple or even a yummy piece of cake.

So probably the most important things to keep you motivated are:-

You have to see working at home as a benefit – list the advantages as you see them. When you see the advantages and disadvantages to you, it will help you decide if working at home is right for you, and what you can do to make it ideal.

It has to be something you really want to do, so choose carefully. Decide on work you really want to do, something you will enjoy. Choose something that will build on your strengths. If you are creative find something with a creative element. If you like writing maybe article writing would satisfy you. Before you commit to working at home consider very carefully what you are good at and what you enjoy, and make sure these preferences can be built into this new venture.

So is this the lifestyle you would enjoy? Are you brave enough to start a new venture? Begin part-time supported by your existing income. Find a 0% credit card for the few essentials and begin on a budget giving your-self a year or two to pay it off.

Take away the pressure so that you can enjoy the experience, and don’t expect to earn a fortune immediately, traditional business takes a couple of years to become established. Plan a great holiday you will fund from your new business and watch your business grow. The biggest regret is never having tried! To your Success…

Here are some of the reasons I can easily stay motivated working at home.

I revel in the peace, working at home gives me. To me it is pure bliss. No constant chatter of a sales office, constant voices on the phone, with people interrupting your thought pattern when you are concentrating on a particular task.

I just feel I have a big fat smile on my face all day, most days. Of course some tasks can be tedious but then they were at work, and I couldn’t stop for a minute and make a coffee any time I wanted.

I love what I am doing, I am creative by nature so I find delight in many of the tasks I do. I can take time to make sure the layout of a webpage or letter is to my liking. I can create articles out of nothing but a thought or an idea. It feels they grow out of thin air. I have a fascination with words and love writing.

I love a challenge, so when I find something frustrating or tricky to master I like the satisfaction of the challenge and enjoy successfully completing it.

I love learning and discovering new things I didn’t think I could achieve, and learning ways to do things better or more effectively.

I love the freedom of making decisions and the time freedom and flexibility it offers me. I have no difficulty staying motivated I enjoy what I am doing so much.

I love being warm and comfortable in attractive surroundings of my choice, with the garden view through the window. I take a short lunch-break at a time that suits me, enjoying the time I allow myself, but eager to return to complete the tasks I have set myself. I usually stop again around 4pm to continue again most evenings. You would need to choose your work pattern that suits you.

I wouldn’t change my way of life. Working at home for me is perfect, but it wouldn’t suit everyone. So if it is something you are contemplating give it some serious thought. I hope you get as much pleasure from it as I do.

So to sum up:

I enjoy working at home immensely. Most of what I do I find pleasure in, would you feel the same?

I enjoy the peaceful surroundings, with few interruptions and to schedule my life as I choose. I like the flexibility. I like to challenge myself and learn new skills without a time pressure set by someone else. How do you feel about this? Is working at home the right choice for you?

I also like to work to my strengths. I am aware what is important to me.

You will find when you do something you love doing, it isn’t a chore, you are motivated by your own desire to achieve you’re goal. You can enjoy the day to day progress as well as the satisfaction of completing your goal. What more could anyone wish for, there are only a limited number of people who are lucky enough and able to work at something they
